New Growth
This plant was my late grandmother’s. For as long as I can remember, she had these plants in (at least) one bedroom & the living room. It is special to me to now keep it going, also because there is a connection to my Grandma Connie who passed away when I was 14. She had the same plants- I remember she had a tiger planter with these plants (that continued to hold the same plants at Grandma Lynn’s house after Grandma Connie died, now my sister Susie has the planter). Memories…
So, when I brought this plant to my house, I put it on top of a hutch in the dining room & it almost died before I noticed it (I honestly do not have a very green thumb & while I enjoy plants & flowers, I have never taken much time to learn about them or have many in the house with small children.)
I was devastated when I saw more than half to 2/3 of the plant was dead, but I carefully got rid of the dead parts, gave it fresh water & a new home in front of a window & a few weeks later, look what is happening?? New Growth! It may seem like a small thing, but man it sure made my day. Sometimes it’s the little things!
New Growth. It’s so important. How often are we just stagnant & stuck in our past, stuck in mistakes, bad habits, etc. How thankful I am that God doesn’t just give up on us, but patiently waits for us, shapes & molds us and gives us what we need to become who He wants us to be. May we flourish & grow like this plant…
What special memories the simplest things can give us. My grandma kept Christmas cactuses all over her house. I still don’t have one, but I hope to fix that soon.
That’s special! Great idea also.
