Working with baby

On Tuesday Mom and Dad had to go to some Dr. appointments that were going to take all day. Taking Keira with them that left Lexa and I with Logan, Lucas, Emmalyn, and Ellenor. I was planning on making some Meringues that afternoon (The Meringues are for the next “In the Kitchen with Lizzy.”) So I thought, “Hey, wouldn’t it be really fun if I set Ellen up to help me, then Lexa could do whatever she needed to get done without worrying about Ellen.” So Tuesday afternoon rolls around and I get Ellen up from her nap, put her little apron on, (the one she is wearing used  to be mine.) And set her up on the counter with: A bowl of flour, A bowl of water, And a plastic mixing bowl. She played around with the flour for a bit. Dipping her hands in it and picking it up and than dropping it back into the bowl.

After playing with the flour, she started picking up the flour and dropping it into the mixing bowl.

I gave her the wooden spoon and she just sat there stirring it for a while.

Then she picked up the bowl of water and dumped the WHOLE bowl in.

Stirred it some more then added more flour.

She just picked up the bowl and dumped it in LOL.

She stirred it awhile, then decided that the bowls had to be stacked since they were empty.

Making sure the bowl was, indeed, empty.

After more or less ten minutes the meringues were whipped and I had painted the inside of my bag so I could have a swirl. Next, I took a plastic sandwich bag and scraped Ellenor’s  mixture into it. I filled my bag and cut one of the corners off Ellenor’s bag. She watched me pipe for a bit, then bent over her plate and squeezed the bag as hard as she could.

It made a big mess because she didn’t know which end was the hole. So she squeezed a big Blotch onto her hand and she was just like “HEY!! how did this get here!” She was very indignant. It was so adorable!!!

She had it all over her apron and her knees she was very happy about it too.

When she was done playing with the piping bag, I cleaned her up and gave her some homemade play dough. (I will do a post on making play dough another time – it is very cost efficient, easy, and kids love it.)

Having fun with play dough
