Birthday 2.0 & A Christmas Tradition
I was overwhelmingly blessed by so many birthday greetings! Thank you all for making my day so special! 🥰 My favorite part was spending all day with our whole family! Making memories 💜
We had a wonderful day. We decided to go to Rockford after all for our Annual Christmas Lights viewing. We went back & forth about whether to stay local or do our normal Rockford Festival of Lights, but in the end chose to go. We did, of course, have a few errands to run, first. 🙂
Then we picked up dinner & drove around to look at the lights. It is one of our favorite Christmas traditions. We always get chicken tenders & french fries, divvy them up in large drink cups & we eat while driving through The Festival of Lights.
It did not disappoint! We had heard that the display was bigger this year than other years & it was! We also had wanted to walk through the Nicholas Conservatory lights display, but it was packed!! And at that point it had been a long day, so we drove through it/by it. It was beautiful!
And then, we always sing Christmas songs very loudly on the way home. Some of our favorite Christmas traditions & memories. It was really special.
We had a lot of laughs, too. A few funnies to share:
Driving through the lights – I said “Look, it’s a rubber ducky!” Someone else said “No, it’s a ‘lighted’ duck!” And another pumped in with “It just had a ‘light’ snack!” 😂
There was a dog light display – it was a Dachshund with 2 presents where the stomach should be…. Grant says: “The dog of Christmas ‘presents'” (Think A Christmas Carol).
As we were singing on the way home, singing The First Noel… someone said “Shouldn’t it be the 2020th Noel?” 😁
