Caramelized Onions
Onions are something that I disliked when I was growing up & now can’t understand why? Have anything like that where your tastes changed? (I did always like green onions, especially at Grandpa & Grandma’s – fresh out of Grandpa’s garden.)
I will say, it depends on how they are prepared (I’m not a fan of them raw), but now I put onions in everything! 😊
One of our favorite ways to eat onions is Caramelized Onions, which are really delicious with many different meats!
To make caramelized onions, slice an onion (or a few, depending on how many you want, they do shrink down quite a bit).
In a skillet on the stove, put a splash of avocado or olive oil & put the onions in. Once they start to brown a bit, you can cover the skillet.
Let them cook, stirring once in awhile, for about 20-30 minutes, until they reach your desired level of tenderness (this can vary depending on what size you cut the onions).
If you want to, you can add a splash of balsamic vinegar (or your favorite vinegar) or red wine in the last 5-10 minutes of cooking to add a bit more flavor.
