Lexa & I went on a walk down to the creek the other day. We (maybe I?) hadn’t intended to go wading & exploring, but we ended up spending an hour wading & walking around. It is so beautiful down there. Makes me wish we had a swing there to just & enjoy the beauty (also if it were a bit closer. It’s not THAT far, but just far enough I can’t really just go sit for 5 minutes).
Lexa & I wading in the creek. You can’t see it, but we’re up to our knees in the water. 😊
A piece of driftwood I found floating in the creek. I grabbed it & brought it home with plans to fix it up. 😊 My Great-Grandfather used to refinish driftwood, & all my growing up years there was that same beautiful driftwood in my Grandparents house, so it has special meaning to me (I now enjoy one of those pieces since my grandparents have passed).
There were so many of these beautiful dragon fly looking insects down at the creek. Logan thinks it’s a damsel fly. The picture really doesn’t do it justice! Beautiful blue & green vibrant colors!
Lexa took this picture. It is a piece of wood that looks like a tutle shell, looks like to have been chewed on by a beaver
This one is kind of hard to see, but there was a big patch of water striders… they have the ability to walk on top of the water & zip around. You can’t really see them in the picture (they don’t let you get close to them), but you can see what looks like a bunch of ripples in the water, that’s them.
Just past where the patch of water striders was, is this cool looking cove, or what Lexa refers to as a “lair”. Logan saw a huge snapping turtle there one time, so no one gets too close. 😏
A farther-back glance at the “lair”
This is interesting because it shows how high the water has been. It is always several feet higher in the Spring, even extending to a large marshland area
Some raccoon prints on the edge of the creek
Just an FYI, it was my grandfather who cleaned up the driftwood and polished it. He showed me how and I displayed one as a 4-H project one year 🙂
Oh, thank you! How fun!
Very very interesting pictures! I”m sure you enjoy roaming around your property. A great education!
I still can’t believe that mommy went in the creek
