Hard Times are Good

I was talking with a friend & she was commenting on how she was sad that we are going through such hard times. I appreciated her call. I appreciate her prayers. It means the world to me.

And, it made me think….

I am very thankful for the hard times.

I also know that everyone is going through something. I know that sounds vague, but everyone has a “cancer” of sorts that they are dealing with. Mine might not look like yours, but I think we’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who isn’t going through some difficult challenge in their lives – health, financial, relationships, marriage, parenting, in-laws, work, on & on. The world is filled with hard stuff.

What makes the difference is how we navigate the hard.

I am thankful for the hard, because it draws me to Christ. It forces me to lean on Him, because I cannot do it on my own. But, I also choose to stay positive through the hard & it makes a world of difference. Lean on Him. Choose joy. And sometimes you just keep trudging – one day at a time, one foot in front of another.

What are your thoughts on “The Hard”? I know this is a never-ending, ongoing thing. It’s going to be different for everyone at every time. And, interestingly, perspective changes as time goes by. What was HARD a decade ago may seem easy now in comparison. And what is hard for one person may seem easy for another. Remember attitude makes a HUGE difference! 🙂

If you are a reader, here are a couple book recommendations on this topic – 2 of my favorites that really helped me navigate through some hard times, keeping my perspective on God.

You’ll Get Through This” by Max Lucado and “The Hardest Peace” by Kara Tippetts (if you aren’t familiar with her story, it’s very inspiring! She was a young Mom & diagnosed with cancer. She is a great example of someone clinging to God through the HARD). Encouraging & easy to read. I have them both if anyone local wants to borrow them, or most libraries also have them.
