Life With Animals
In the past 24 hours, we have had all the chickens (about 40) escape and 3 of the bunnies (out of 9) escape out of their cages. Eh…such is life with animals!! Thankfully we noticed them in time to be able to catch them all. (The picture is from the girls room, looking out at the bunny cages.)
We love having animals, but it definitely changes lives…
- You can’t just go away, even for an overnight, without making arrangements. We have been graciously blessed by some friends that live about 15 minutes away who have helped us out a couple times by taking care of our animals. Lexa has done some animal sitting of her own. She really loves animals. 🙂
- You have to get up early & sometimes stay up late to take care of them. You don’t get days off. (Sounds a bit like being a parent…hmm)
For so many years, we did not have pets. With so many small children, and homeschooling, I didn’t feel I could add one more thing to my plate. We are so thankful now to live where we do, and the animal opportunities available. It does help to have older children now. The kids ALL love the animals and work together well to feed, water, clean up after, gather eggs, etc. They enjoy playing and interacting with them also. We love all the 4H opportunities with them also.
We would love to at some point have a dog. We’d love to breed dogs. Someday…
