Lizzy decided that she wanted to paint the bathroom as an interior design project for 4H. Initially she thought it would be a simple remove wallpaper & paint job, but as she got started, it became more & more involved.
We are so pleased with how it turned out!! 🤩 AND, she did great at the County Fair & even earned a spot at the State Fair with this project! Yay Lizzy!
Before pictures:
As you can see, half the walls were covered by these hideous large mirrors. We used to call this bathroom “The Mirror Bathroom.” 😅 No matter how hard we tried, the mirrors never looked clean & the wallpaper was peeling. Storage was also an issue. The storage in this bathroom was limited to these 2 glass corner shelves.An example of how the wallpaper was peeling.
During Renovation Pictures:
As she started peeling the wallpaper to remove, it did come off pretty easily, thankfully! However, she discovered that the wallpaper was under the mirrors, which is when we made the decision to remove the mirrors. After all the mirrors & wallpaper, & shelves have been removed. An example of some damage from removing the mirrors that were screwed into the walls. Lizzy did putty & sand the holes to patch them up before painting. The walls after Lizzy scrubbed the walls with vinegar to remove all the wallpaper paste. The old toilet, which was very low to the ground & also had a peeling, outdated decal. We weren’t planning to replace it, but we’re talked into it & are very glad!! 🙂The old pedestal sink with peeling decals
The Finished Bathroom – After Pictures:
We actually had this mirror, still new in a box & it works perfectly! It’s kind of hard to see in the pictures, but everything is brushed nickel We also installed a grab bar that we had, to make it more handicap accessible. Lizzy even replaced the light switch cover to match! 😀 Also hard to see, but Lizzy also cleaned all the floorboards that had a lot of water damage with Murphy’s Wood Oil & they look so much better!
Thanks for all your hard work, Lizzy! The bathroom is amazing! (Also thanks to Greg & Mike who helped replace the toilet & sink & showed Lizzy what to do).
We’re looking forward to tackling some other rooms this Fall 😊
