Mandatory Fun Day!!!

We had originally wanted to have some families over today. The Sunday before Memorial Day the past few years we have had a bunch of people over to swim and eat and it has been a lot of fun. This year we had 50 people! So, we thought it would be fun to do the same for Labor Day, but the past week has been brutal and we’ve had 5 day trips an hour away each way. Since it has been such an exhausting week, we decided the best thing for our family is:

MANDATORY FUN DAY!!

Basically, we took today as a day of rest. Games, naps (pipe dream), swimming, shooting practice as a family while Ellie napped, hanging out at the Koi pond (which I haven’t done much this summer because the bugs have been so bad, so I’m thankful for this!), etc.

I’m so excited about our day of REST that I’ve been up since 3am!! =)

I woke the kids up at 6:20 doing a happy dance about our mandatory fun day and this was the response I got:

• So let me sleep!!
• I’m having fun right here…
• Why can’t it be a mandatory sleep day??

LOL. I did tell them they should be thankful I woke them at 6:20 instead of 3am! 🤣

I have to admit today didn’t turn out as restful as I’d hoped & I am desperately hoping & planning to go to bed early tonight. I still am thankful and I would choose the memories over the rest. (That’s a post on my mind for another day)
