No (Little) Spend Challenge
At different times/seasons of our lives, we have done a better job than others at keeping track of our spending, to stay on track. We do have a budget, but at times we follow it a bit more “loosely” than others. After a LOT of huge expenses the past few months (buying another vehicle since we had another driver – we also know our van is OLD & not sure how much longer we’ll have it – we bought a 12 year old vehicle, in between the van & Hilander, an unexpected $2000 brake job for our 15 year old van, and then an unexpected $700 repair for our 14 year old Hilander, my medical bills & supplements, etc…), we decided to take the next few months to try to get back on track & build our savings back up.
So, in January we decided to keep track of every dollar we spent. It’s wise to do this, if not every month, at least from time to time. You will be surprised at how much you spend! We spent WAY more than intended (this always happens – we go to the store & there are always items we buy that aren’t on the list). So, for February, we’re going to try again & be more diligent.
I will say that in January we did a pretty good job with our online spending, we spent more than we would have liked, but at least it was better than most months. But, going to stores…. it adds up quickly.
Accountability makes it a lot easier to stay on track. Who wants to join us in this challenge of spending as little as possible in February? Are there foods in your pantry or freezer that you can eat up? Is it necessary to buy something NOW? Or maybe think about it & see if it is either not necessary, or not now…
At the very least I challenge you to keep track of every dollar you spend, you may be surprised! 😮🤔
