Now vs. A year Ago: A Health Update
Well, I figured it’s time for a health update. I know it’s past due, but it is hard to update when you don’t really feel like anything is changing.
That being said, I was realizing the other day that I do have more energy than I used to & more importantly, it doesn’t take me days to recover from being exhausted. So, while I do still OFTEN overdo it, I am resting/sleeping pretty well for the most part & recovering faster.
Example: A day trip (5+ hours) that includes errands, appointments & shopping used to take me several days of doing very little to recover & feel “normal”. Now, while I still come home completely wiped, I am able to sleep & feel myself the next morning.
This is HUGE!
I am seeing my Functional Medicine Dr every month & having regular blood draws to monitor different things. We did another tick-borne illness blood draw a couple months ago to see the progress from treatment & I was encouraged to see that one of the 2 tick-borne illnesses I had was gone. I’m grateful for that.
Baby steps! I’m still on a whole paper bag full of supplements & medications, & still following the food sensitivities “diet”.
So, while it’s easy to think that I’m not making much progress, the truth is that baby steps are being made. So I’m choosing to be grateful for that. And continuing to look forward to more baby steps that turn into giant leaps of healing. ❤
I’m so grateful to be this far into the journey as we are now finding out several other kids have tick-borne illnesses & food sensitivities. It’s completely overwhelming to have several different people with different allergies. More on that soon.
My favorite thing? Being able to bake & cook again is HUGE! It still is exhausting, but I had missed it so much, being able to stand for more than 15 minutes at a time! So hard to feed a family that way!
