Grant knows how much I enjoy experiencing different foods & restaurants. I enjoy trying different foods that we wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to try at home.
So when we were offered a deal for a 5-star hotel that seemed too good to pass up, we booked it. Then when we looked at when flights were the best price, it was mid-January! So, we went!
We were able to fly directly from Rockford & back. I’ve never flown from Rockford, but the airport was small, efficient & nicer than I expected!
Some of the pictures I mainly took to show our kids who have never seen anything like it…we called this our “Once in a lifetime trip” – we enjoyed it, but likely won’t do it again. (However, if we do, I have definitely learned some things that we would do differently – where to stay so you don’t have to rent a car, pay for parking, etc.!!)
**Stay tuned for more! Only so many pictures fit in one post…the best are yet to come 😊**
On the plane & ready to go!!
((Fun fact…we’ve been married almost 24 years & have never flown together!!))
Grant barely fit!! 🙃🫣🤣We booked the flight too late to get seats with more legroom. So many tall & over the top gaudy buildings…More unique buildings The airport & most buildings looked like this…so many machines waiting to take your money…I was surprised by the level of NOISE everywhere. And the smoke…The entryway of the hotel – right above this carport was the pool! The elevators at our hotel…everything was gold & gleamingA picture of us in the elevator – which by the way, went SO fast! It made my ears pop!! It took less than 5 seconds to go 26 floors! The discreet “security” at our hotel – “Excuse me, sir, but please let me check your card for you & make sure it’s still working properly”A funny one – size difference of a one size fits most robe….my arm & Grant’s 🤣A little entryway before our room…sorry the picture is blurry. It felt very private, was quiet & I never even saw anyone else in our little wing… & the ice was in its own room right across from our doorGood Pie – a highly-rated pizza place…I had seen the owner on a cooking show & so when I came across the recommendation for this pizza place, I wanted to try it. I couldn’t decide between the white pie & the ‘shrooms pie, so I got half & half after talking to the waitress & learning they were similar – the white pie added the ricotta dollops on top & the ‘shrooms added caramelized onions & mushrooms. 5 cheeses & no red sauce. It was delicious! (I got extra to eat for breakfast since our hotel room didn’t come with it…no judging!! 😉)A very cute restaurant…using cloth checkered napkins & lots of family pictures on the wall…the owner grew up in the business in New York. We took some time to walk around North Las Vegas after lunch. This was a cute junk robot in a store filled with old memorabilia. This was so weird to me…in the parking garage – yes, that’s the ceiling – and every single one filled with shoe marks… 🙃😲A fun rental car I had to take a picture of for the kids…especially since it was orange! 😀 Looking down from 108 floors up!!Quite the view! Complete with snow capped mountains. The pictures really don’t do the view/experience justice!! This was a fun interactive map – you could move it around & tap on the words to read more about each marked building. Grant & I – 108 floors up!From the outdoor observation deck – 109 floors up!Above the outdoor observation deck, you could pay to ride some thrill rides…this one went up an extra 40 feet or so & then dropped
