Sprouting Wheat Berries

I love doing things like sprouting wheat berries & grinding our own flour. I don’t always have the time or energy, but I like to when I can. Sprouting grains helps to make it so your body digests them more easily. You can sprout any type of grain or bean.
Step 1 – You start with a glass jar, fill about 1/3 of the way with wheat berries. Fill the jar with water & cover. I use sprouting lids that allow for airflow, but if you don’t have those, use a rubber band & cheesecloth.
Soak the wheat berries for about 8-12 hours, then drain & rinse.

Step 2 – Twice a day, drain & rinse, until sprouts start to appear. This process usually takes about 2 days.

Step 3 – Once the berries are sprouted, lay them out on dehydrator racks & dry for about 18-24 hours. After they are dried, they will keep indefinitely in the fridge.

Then they are ready for when you want to grind the berries to make flour. 😊
