Turkey/Ham Cheese Bread

Turkey/Ham Cheese Bread

We hosted a potluck this past weekend & one of our kids asked if I would make Ham & Cheese Bread. It’s great for potlucks & get togethers. I haven’t made it in a while, but it’s always a hit!! In the past we’ve made it with Ham, but we only had Turkey, so we used that. I don’t think there’s that much difference. 😀

Start with bread dough…use your favorite recipe for dinner rolls or bread or if you must (haha, just teasing), buy store bought bread dough.

Roll it out into a rectangle. I rolled it out to about 14″ x 20″, but be mindful of what size cookie sheet you’ll be baking it on. I had to turn mine diagonally to fit on the cookie sheet, which did work.

After rolling it out, put a layer of cheese in the middle third

If you don’t want to add meat, you can skip the next step & have cheese bread.

Add a layer of ham or turkey lunch meat on top of the cheese. We just did one layer, but I think next time we should add two, as it seemed to almost disappear in the amount of dough.
Fold both sides in to the middle & seal all 3 edges

This next step is optional, but does add an incredible amount of flavor.

Brush (garlic) butter over the top & sprinkle with herbs or seasoning salt

Bake in a preheated 400° oven for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.

The finished loaf (ok, half of it, because I forgot to take a picture before I sliced it) 😂 Yummy!!

Slice & serve! It is delicious warm, but good cold also.

I will say, it’s hard to slice when warm because it squishes the bread down (as seen in the top picture), but we prefer it warm, so I just do my best.
