Our New Fridge & “Demo Mode”
Did you know that if you buy a display model, you have to manually turn the “Demo Mode” off? And, this is actually not talked about in the manual? And that if you don’t, the compressor doesn’t actually kick on & cool the fridge?
We didn’t either! But we do now. We wanted to share our experience in case it helps someone else. 🙂
We had been “semi-looking” for a new fridge, knowing that the specific size & brand/model we wanted is not normally kept in stock in the local small appliance stores & since we have 2 older fridges, we didn’t want to either get stuck settling & buying something because it was necessary or end up losing a lot of food.
Last week we “just happened” upon a display model for less than we expected to have to pay & it’s a much nicer model! The fridge is everything we had hoped for, but didn’t think we would get & it actually matches & ties in ALL of our appliances! It felt like a God moment! <3
We bought the fridge & brought it home. A friend was able to come help us on Sunday & we got the old one emptied, cleaned & the new one set up. We put all the food back in the fridge & waited & waited for it to get cool. The troubleshooting guide said it can take 24 hours to get to temperature, so unfortunately we didn’t realize until early Tuesday morning that the fridge was still in Demo Mode. We put a thermometer in the fridge & it was 60 degrees! Thankfully, we were able to finally figure it out & it’s now running beautifully! And other than a mess from frozen fruit that melted, I don’t think we lost any food. 🙂
Beautiful! Glad you figured it out before losing all the food!
Thank you! We are glad too! 🙂
Oof! Glad you only lost a little fruit, and got it sorted.
Thanks! 🙂
the fridge really looks different!
