Lexa’s Cape

I bought the fabric back in October to make this cape for Lexa first Christmas, then with my sudden health issues, I didn’t get it finished in time.
I’m happy to say I finally finished it!!! YAY! I’m a little excited. (And so is she!)

I will say, this was NOT easy fabric to work from, from cutting it (most fabric you want to double & cut, but with stretch velvet you have to cut each layer individually) to pinning to sewing…
Thankfully I looked it up before I started & learned many tips to make it easier. I ALMOST had it done in time for Christmas, spent all morning Christmas Eve working on it, then thought I had put a couple pieces together wrong, spent the rest of the day ripping it out, only to realize the next week that it was actually correct.
Oh well.
At any rate, we are very happy it’s finished & Lexa loves it! (It still needs the clasp, but I think we’ll have to go to a specialty store in Rockford to find it, hopefully this week).
