Cantigny Park Day Trip Part 1

Cantigny Park Day Trip Part 1

We took a day trip today to Cantigny Park in Wheaton. It was about an hour & a half drive. Some friends of ours recommended it to us & we were excited to visit. The weather was beautiful, especially for August! Mid 70s & gorgeous!

I somehow forgot to bring anything for Ellie to do in the van ride. So we spent a lot of time singing songs to keep her happy. Which also makes my heart happy. Some of my fondest memories are of family time spent in the van, singing songs loudly.

They had these brightly colored chairs all around the gardens for photo ops
Beautiful pond
A queen on a chair amid a beautiful garden bed
A close up of all the children in the same garden area
Beautiful flowers
So fascinating!
Emmalyn really loved these pretty flowers.

More to come in the next couple days. We toured the house & the Division museum. The kids especially loved the tanks! We only had 4 hours & while we were worn out & ready to go, we all look forward to going back to spend more time. 🙂

  • So happy you all were able to visit Cantigny! My husband’s mother’s friend, a widow, was the caretaker of the big house for many years. On one of my birthdays many years ago, her friend, Mrs. Brown, took us on a tour of that house and the rose gardens. She picked a large bouquet of roses for me from the garden as a birthday gift. That certainly was a special memory for me. I remember there were many “hidden” cabinets in some of the rooms, where the bookcases would turn completely around and there would be many things hidden behind those shelves. .
