We enjoyed celebrating Miss Alexanna, AKA Xanna, AKA Lexa over a several-day-period. McKaylee came to help celebrate the 3 April birthdays, the kids had archery on her birthday & she had to work, so not a lot of time that day. Welcome to adulthood.
We are so grateful for the beautiful young woman Lexa is becoming, inside & out. She loves kids & animals, has a wonderful green thumb, writes funny stories & is enthusiastic about everything she throws herself into. She is looking forward to getting baptized in June (at her 18th bday/graduation open house).
While being on our “diet” has been challenging for the kids, birthdays have been the hardest. I tried to make some special, old favorite foods. Some were a success, some not as much. But it was a blessing to have a little something special.
The picture doesn’t do justice to the flowers, the tulips are a beautiful pink with fringes! And a pink hyacinth bulb on the right. Lexa loves her flowers Grant picked this one out to add to Lexa’s collection. He said it looked the most alien. Lexa wanted some headbands that were cloth & wide. I couldn’t decide which ones, so we bought her 2 packs of 10 or 12 & I told her she could pick which one she liked best. She kept them both. Glad she likes them & they look great on her. McKaylee (sporting her new hairdo – she wanted to dye her hair blue for her 21st birthday that is coming up later this year) gave Lexa the game Herd Your Horses. McKaylee has the game & knew Lexa had wanted a copy. Lizzy made this AWESOME cake…a GF DF carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The whole family approved – although it was super sweet!! We’ll definitely cut back on the sugar next time we make it. She was surprised! We surprised Lexa with carrot cakeLucas wanted to make a cake also, so he made banana bread “cake” & Lizzy helped him put the rest of the cream cheese frosting in between the layers.Cake for breakfast 2 days in a row!Keira made Lexa some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies – this one has a smiley face. (Also note Lexa’s shirt – “I was normal three cats ago” & she’s holding 5 furry friends) Oma & Opa sent some beautiful picture frames & some fun bags. Lexa takes some great pictures, what a fun gift. Thanks Opa & Oma!Ellenor gave Lexa some pictures Lexa opened this card & some money slipped into her lap. Ellie was watching & excitedly said, “Look, money!” (Can you see her finger pointing?)We surprised Lexa with some homemade GF DF corn dogs. They weren’t perfect & sadly some got overcooked & dried out, but still fun to try & have something that was something of a favorite comfort food (she didn’t eat this many, I just wanted a picture of her with the plate of them) Lexa approved! Yay!Ellie liked them also!
Happy 18th birthday, Lexa!!Love, Aunt Kim & Uncle Carl
