Date Night Blessing
Grant & I went on our monthly date night last night. We make it a priority once a month to take an afternoon/evening and go out for a nice dinner. And usually some shopping or errands since we try to make the most of our trips to Rockford.
We checked out the new Costco. It was really nice. For some reason it wasn’t really what I was expecting. It was more like Sam’s than I remember, although I’ve only been in one twice & just tagging along, not really shopping for myself (not to mention it was not in a recent decade..lol)
After one more quick stop, we went to our favorite Date Night restaurant – Francesco’s. It is amazing. We love it!! It has been our go-to spot for the past 9 years or so since we discovered it. We have just had the best experiences there, and very few problems (which they are very quick to make right).
Last night we were blown away. We enjoyed a nice dinner. Grant recognized 2 men sitting behind us – from his UPS days. They talked a few minutes & we finished our meal, asked for the bill and were getting ready to go.
The waiter came back & said, “Here is your card, sir, but your meal has been taken care of tonight!” 💝
“Um. Can you say that again, please?”
“Yes sir, that is correct. Someone has paid for your entire meal, including the tip. And I am sworn to secrecy. I cannot give you any more information. Have a great evening!”
Wow. We were really blown away! What a blessing! God is so faithful! I had had a really hard week and I just felt God hugging me & saying “This is how much I love you!” God does love us! In the big things and the little. And He is faithful to be here for us when we need Him, when we cry out to Him! (Psalm 91:15) THAT is what I felt in that moment.
We do think it was Grant’s former coworker, but don’t have a way to know for sure. We asked our waiter to please thank whomever blessed us and tell them how much it meant to us. I hope the message was passed along (or heard) and that whomever blessed us was blessed in return.
Someone blew us away last night with their generosity. And God blew me away with His goodness. I’m not surprised by that, but it was unexpected and I’m grateful.
**Married couples – Make date nights important, especially if you have children living at home! Yes, that makes it harder & sometimes you have to be creative. I’ll write more on this in another post!**
I loved your special story. Thank you for sharing this with me.
Thank you, Sally! Hugs & love to you!
