Making New Friends

Making New Friends

On Sunday we joined some friends at a Hymn Sing that they go to – it used to be monthly & now it’s quarterly. We’ve wanted to go for years, but a lot of factors held us back – pain, distance, busyness, etc.

We are glad that we finally made the time! It was such a blessing to have the fellowship & family time.

On the way to Hymn Sing (it was an hour drive)

We have a lot of appointments & errands that bring us through Rockford at least every few weeks. If we are in town over lunch, we usually stop at a favorite fast food restaurant to get a quick bite.

We have befriended a sweet lady that works there and every time we stop I always look for her. I give her a hug & catch up briefly. She was one of 8 kids, is a believer, & a Caregiver to her husband who has some health issues, so we have a lot in common.

She mentioned one time that she was going through things & wanted to give some items to us. We always appreciate gifts like this – it’s fun to look through & get new treasures. We exchanged numbers & last week she called & asked if we could come pick up some boxes that she had been setting aside for us and that she wanted to have a little treat for the kids.

Tuesday we went to her house. It was a blessing to meet her husband. We spent about an hour and a half and he talked with Grant the whole time. She had decorated the table & laid out a fun “tea party” for the kids. It was really sweet. I could tell that it meant so much to her that we came & she enjoyed it.

It was a blessing to spend time visiting with her, hearing about her life. I’m so glad that we made the time. It would have been easy to just say no – I’m glad we didn’t miss the opportunities. It was a blessing to both families.
