Using One Pattern for Multiple Sizes – Sewing Frugal Tip

I love to sew. I don’t often have or make the time, but every time I do, I’m reminded how much I love it! 😊

Being the frugal person I am, I like to cut out a pattern at the biggest size so it can be reused for multiple sizes. Some patterns are easier than others (curves are tricky), but it’s definitely doable.

The pictures below are from a nightgown Lizzy & I are making. The pattern was for sizes XS – XL. So we cut it all out at the size XL & are cutting the fabric out for a size M.

For long straight edges, its super easy – just fold it back at the size you want
Patterns are thin & thankfully you can see through them. I make short cuts with the scissors, then make sure it is staying aligned.

The curves are a bit more tricky. It helps to make shorter snips with the scissors, a little bit at a time.
After it’s cut, it’s easy to double check & see the outline of where you’ve cut, to make sure it is correct.
