Sewing Tip – How To Easily Turn Straps/Ties Right Side Out

Some of you may already know about this tip, but I sure didn’t! I am working on finishing an apron that one of my girls had started many years ago and it has very skinny straps that will be the ties.

I had asked a coworker the other night (I knew that she was a sewer) & she showed me how to easily turn it right side out using an unsharpened pencil! It was so fast!

You start with a strap that’s been sewn on 3 sides and an unsharpened pencil.
This part is hard to describe, but on the skinny end that is sewn, pull apart both sides a bit, enough to be able to push the pencil into that “groove” & gently push it.
Gently keep feeding the pencil through the strap…
…the pencil will start to poke through the other end, with the fabric right side out. Then it’s easy to pull the rest of the way out
Voila!
The finished (ironed) tie
