Blueberries

Blueberries

One of the highlights of our summer is getting boxes of fresh blueberries. (Really I love all the amazing fresh produce of summer!!)

We’ve been doing this for as long as I can remember, at least a dozen years. Some years we get up to 50 lbs!

We always enjoy eating a lot & then we wash, sort & freeze them to enjoy all year round. We make muffins, use them in smoothies & just enjoy eating them frozen.

A 10 lb box of fresh blueberries
We wash the berries, then leave them to drain a minute
Then lay the berries out on a towel-covered cookie sheet. Sort out any bad ones, pick the stems off, etc. This also helps to dry out the berries before we freeze them, which helps them to last longer & not clump together.
Ta Da, ready for the freezer! Berries for months! 😊

Rhubarb Blueberry Muffin Recipe is our favorite blueberry muffin recipe. When we don’t have rhubarb (we actually haven’t had rhubarb in years, I so miss that!!), we just omit it & they are blueberry muffins. Turns out great every time.
