Having a Day of REST

The Bible talks about having a Sabbath Day, a day to REST & reflect on our Lord. This may look different for some. I know some have a Sabbath on Friday-Saturday.

For our family, we take Sundays as our day of REST. We do church and play games, take naps, read books, and just take the day to rest instead of work.

Sure, there is always some work that has to be done, but if it can wait, we try to save it for Monday. We do like to have a big Sunday lunch or dinner, but whatever prep we can do ahead of time, we do – making rolls, prepping potatoes for mashed potatoes can all be ready the night before. Dishes & laundry for the most part can wait until Monday.

Our big Sunday lunch or dinner is a blessed time of just having a nice family meal together, talking about our week, or whatever.

The main point is to take time to rest so are ready for a new week & not worn out & take time with the family that you normally might not have. Sometimes we do “mandatory game time” even if the kids would rather read. Other times we just request them to be in the room with us, even if they choose to color or just watch instead of participate.
