Delayed Anniversary Getaway Part 1

Delayed Anniversary Getaway Part 1

Grant & I really enjoyed our Madison trip last summer that we took to celebrate our 20th anniversary. So we decided to go back this year to celebrate our 21st. With everything going on this summer, we kept putting off the trip, but finally made it happen!!

With riots going on, the pandemic confusion, etc., it was a very different trip. We had a reservation for dinner one night that got canceled as the restaurant decided to close due to riots & protests. We ended up ordering takeout more than we had originally planned & watched more movies, but regardless of everything, we are thankful for the time. 😍❤

It’s so important to keep investing in your marriage & finding ways to reconnect and prioritize each other. This will look different for everyone, we are all in different stages of life, with different circumstances. But I encourage you to find a way to make your marriage a priority & important.

First lunch @ Great Dane Pub. Delicious cheese curds & I had a black bean burger on a GF bun that was delicious!!
Dinner @ Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. We had lunch here about 5 years ago when we were in town for a VA appt. It was fun to go back & they did a great job helping us celebrate our anniversary. ❤
They had put rose petals on the table & gave us a bottle of champagne.
Dessert at Ruth’s Chris.
Lunch at The Old Fashioned. Had the cheese curds again (we’re in Wisconsin, you have to try all the different cheese curds!) 😉 One of the few restaurants we ate at 2 years in a row.
This picture just really represented our trip well… outdoor seating, curbside pickup prevalent & all the windows downtown boarded up due to the riots (I didn’t take any pictures of the boarded up windows, but you can see the fork lift moving a bunch of plywood down the street, getting ready to board up more windows.
Dinner @ Johnny Delmonico’s. Probably our favorite restaurant from last year, so we wanted to go back. The experience was not nearly as good, but we still enjoyed our time.
Yummy drinks @ Johnny Delmonico’s
Grant had Steak, potatoes, & marrow butter (for the steak)
I had a filet, fries & crab cakes.
Lunch at Rare Steakhouse….interesting story, we had planned to eat there last year & didn’t make it as we went home a bit early. This year we had reservations one night, but the restaurant closed that one night due to riots. We were grateful to make it for lunch right before we left town. Definitely one of our favorites & we will be back!! We even had the whole restaurant to ourselves!
Rare
They have a whole wall of old books at Rare!
The ceiling was so ornate!
A farther back picture of Rare & the ceiling
The men’s bathroom sink! Wow! Reminds me of when we visited the State Capitol building last year (Grant took the picture)
A close up of the sink. The women’s bathroom was nice, but didn’t have the intricacy that this sink had.
