The Power of Perspective

Sometimes we can all use a little change in perspective!

Ever since we moved into our current house 4 1/2 years ago, my toilet seat lid has been broken. My husband is awesome & patched it up with duct tape & an old wire hanger.

It seems to me like the kind of thing that will stay “broken” for a decade & then we’ll replace it right before we move. So I asked last year if we could try to replace to toilet seat. We bought a new seat & Grant and one of the kids took it apart & tried to fix it.

Long story short, the new seat did not fit (the hardware is different) & not only that, they don’t seem to make this particular model of toilet seat any more. I had found 2 websites that carried them (for almost $100!), but they were listed as “on backorder,” but expected within 30 days. So, I put my email in on both websites & waited expectantly to get an email that it was back in stock.

Meanwhile, every time I used my toilet, the seat slides…we never put it back together since we didn’t expect it to take so long! 6 months later, I gave up on my “dreams” of having a new toilet seat & just wanted it to not slip & slide🥴. I asked Grant to put the hardware back in & now…

I’m so grateful for my “broken, but not sliding around” toilet seat! Thank you, Grant! 🥰

What do you need to take a step back from & see if it changes your perspective??
