WWII Days at Midway Village 2019

We joined a group of homeschoolers & went to the WWII Days at Midway Village on Friday. The weather was beautiful & we had a great day.

I was struck by how neat it was to have so much genuine WWII equipment – the tents, water canteens, gas cans, ration cards, vehicles, clothing, etc… It was neat to be able to picture how it might have been like for the people who lived in this time & served in this war, like my Grandpa.

We definitely appreciate & look for hands on learning opportunities like this – it just sticks so much better than book reading! (Nothing against books or reading – we love them both, but appreciate ways to make school more fun).

There was a drill instructor overseeing the obstacle course. He taught them the 16-count manual of arms
